
Junior Smallbore Postal Matches
The 20011-2012 GOAL Foundation Smallbore Postal Matches will begin in November. Score sheets can be obtained by calling Jon Green at the GOAL office. Awards will be mailed on a monthly basis to team captains or coaches. Please review the general rules below.
The GOAL Foundation Smallbore Postal Matches Section 1: General This program in conventional smallbore is being continued to promote the shooting sports among young people. Firearms safety is essential. A basic firearms course is the best first step of any shooting program. Camaraderie, safety, and fun are all encouraged!
Section 2: Sponsor
This program is sponsored by the GOAL Foundation.
Section 3: Eligibility
Any Massachusetts boy or girl who has not yet reached their 20th birthday by December 31st of 2011 may compete.
Section 4: Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the local club or organization to submit the scores once a month to The GOAL Foundation, P.O. Box 567, Northboro, MA.
01532 Attn: Postal Match. We recommend that the team elect a member to handle the responsibility of turning in the paperwork. Reporting forms are included along with return envelopes for your convenience. Copies are acceptable.
Section 5: Schedule
This Postal will run from November 2011 through April 2012. Scores are to be submitted to The GOAL Foundation between December 5, 2011 and May 5, 2012.
Scores must be postmarked by the 5th of each month. Targets may be fired at the convenience of the competitor under the supervision of the local instructor or coach. Scores may be emailed.
Section 6: Conduct of Program
All firing will be conducted according to the NRA rulebook for smallbore rifle.
Section 7: Course of Fire
The GOAL Foundation recommends that all competitors fire the NRA Three Position Course; 20 shots prone, 20 shots kneeling, and 20 shots offhand.
All firing will take place on the A-36 target. Competitors may participate in 1 or all positions by firing 20 shots at two A-36 targets per position.
Section 8: Awards
1st Place minimum of 3 shooters in category 2nd Place 5 or more shooters in category 3rd Place 10 or more shooters in category
Example: If 9 juniors turn in scores for November, 1st & 2nd place medals will be awarded. If 12 juniors turn in scores for November, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place medals will be awarded.
Sub junior: born on or after January 1, 1998 Intermediate junior: born between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1997
Junior: born between January 1, 1991 and December 31, 1994
Section 9: Fees
There will be no fee charged to participate in this program. The GOAL Foundation believes that the importance of attracting new shooters is the highest priority. Donations are very much appreciated.
